AI detection + humanization resources

Platform-by-platform guides on which systems detect AI, plus reviews of popular humanizer and detector tools. Updated as vendors and detection signals change.

'Does X detect AI?' platform guides

Every LMS, anti-plagiarism, and writing platform students and writers encounter. What each one actually runs and how to interpret a flag.

Does Turnitin detect AI?

How Turnitin's AI detector works, what it flags, and how to read the score it gives you.

Does Canvas detect AI?

Canvas itself does not detect AI, but the Turnitin and Copyleaks integrations many universities add do. Here is what runs when you submit.

Does Blackboard detect AI?

Blackboard relies on SafeAssign and third-party plugins for AI detection. What each checks and how to interpret a flag.

Does Moodle detect AI?

Moodle's plugin ecosystem for AI detection, including Ouriginal and Copyleaks. Configuration varies by institution.

Does Google Classroom detect AI?

Google Classroom's originality reports check web sources and student work, but not AI directly. What teachers can and cannot see.

Does D2L Brightspace detect AI?

D2L's Turnitin and Copyleaks integrations, plus the built-in similarity checks. What shows up in instructor dashboards.

Does Pressbooks detect AI?

Pressbooks is a publishing platform, not a detector. What instructors and publishers may add around it.

Does SafeAssign detect AI?

SafeAssign is a plagiarism tool, not an AI detector, but many institutions bundle AI detection plugins alongside it.

Does Chegg detect AI?

Chegg's honor-code enforcement and AI detection posture. Implications for students using Chegg study tools.

Does Grammarly detect AI?

Grammarly shipped an AI detector in 2023. What it scores and how it compares to Turnitin.

Does Originality.ai detect AI?

Originality.ai is a detector; the question is how accurate it is. Independent benchmarks vs the vendor's published numbers.

Does Copyleaks detect AI?

Copyleaks positions itself as the enterprise AI detector. How it handles ChatGPT, Claude, and paraphrased text.

Does Quillbot detect AI?

Quillbot ships an AI detector alongside its paraphraser. How useful it actually is compared to dedicated detectors.

Does Scribbr detect AI?

Scribbr's detector uses Copyleaks under the hood. What that means for accuracy and false-positive rates.

Does Unicheck detect AI?

Unicheck's AI detection integration, commonly deployed in European universities via Moodle and Canvas.

Does PlagScan detect AI?

PlagScan's AI-detection posture after the Turnitin acquisition. Where the product still shows up in institutional deployments.

Try Leap free

Leap's AI detection runs entirely in your browser, free, with no account and nothing sent anywhere. It scores text from 0 to 100 based on writing signals like sentence-length variation, stock AI phrases, hedging words, em-dash density, and repetition, and highlights the sentences that weigh most. The humanizer does a cleanup pass: it replaces stock AI phrases, removes em dashes and invisible characters, adds contractions, and marks sentences of uniform length so you can vary them. Neither tool guarantees any outcome with third-party detectors, and a score is a signal, not proof.
