Our mission

AI writing tools are everywhere now, and so are the detectors that try to flag them. Both sides of that arms race make mistakes, and writers are the ones who pay the cost: a student accused of cheating over a phrase they wrote themselves, a blogger deranked for content a detector misclassified, a researcher flagged by a journal policy nobody reads in full.We started Leap because we think writers working alongside AI deserve tools that are fast, honest about their limits, and built by people who read the detection research. Our mission is simple: give writers clear, useful feedback, and let them decide what to do with it.Because every tool runs in your browser, your text is never uploaded, never stored, and never trained on. What you read on the site is what we actually ship.

The humans behind Leap

Leap is founded and run by Claudio Fuentes, a software founder who builds and operates the product directly: the detection and humanization tools, the site you are reading, and the systems that answer your support email. There is no office, no sales team, and no growth department. When you email us about a wrong score, the fix ships from the same small team that wrote this page.We are bootstrapped: no venture funding, no advertisers, no data-broker sideline. The product only does well if it keeps working for the writers who use it."Leap AI Research", the byline on many articles here, is the working name for that same small team's research output: reading the detection literature and writing up what we find. When a topic needs expertise we do not have in-house, we bring in outside contributors and name them explicitly.

How we make money

Trust surfaces are cheap to fake, so here is the actual business model, in plain terms:
  • The tools are free. Detection, humanization, and the utility tools all run in your browser at no cost, with no account and no word limits tied to plans.
  • No ads and no data selling. Your text never leaves your device, so there is nothing to sell and nothing to train on.
  • What we do not monetize: your text, your detection results, and our review pages. We earn no affiliate commissions from any tool we compare.
Keeping the tools free and client-side is what keeps the incentives clean: the site does well only if writers keep finding it genuinely useful.

Our approach to detection and humanization

Detection and humanization are two sides of the same coin. Our detector scores text from 0 to 100 based on writing signals: uneven versus uniform sentence length (burstiness), stock AI phrases, hedging and transition words, em-dash density, and repetition. It highlights the sentences that weigh most on the score, because the granular signal is where the interesting decisions happen. That score is a signal, not proof. Any detector can be wrong, and ours must never be the only basis for accusing anyone of using AI.Our humanizer is a cleanup pass, not a disguise. It replaces stock AI phrases, removes em dashes and invisible characters, adds contractions, and marks sentences of uniform length so you can vary them yourself. It does not guarantee passing any detector, and it does not promise to bypass Turnitin or any other checker. Writers who use it should still reread, edit, and own the final words.

How we write our content

Writers trust the site only if the content is right. Here is how we work.

Primary sources first

When we make a claim about how a detector or humanizer works, it is because we tested it ourselves or read the vendor's own documentation. We do not rewrite other sites' marketing copy.

Citations

Technical claims link out to published research or vendor documentation. If a claim does not have a source we can point to, we say so explicitly.

Honesty about uncertainty

No AI detector is 100 percent accurate, and no humanizer guarantees passing any checker. We say so plainly and do not pretend otherwise. If the honest answer is "it depends," that is the answer we give.

Contact us

Questions, corrections, partnership ideas, or press inquiries: email hello@tryleap.ai. We read every message. Corrections and factual errors get priority, because if a claim on the site is wrong, we want to know. Our FAQ covers the most common questions about the tools and will probably answer your question faster than we will.

What's next

The tooling will keep getting better. What stays constant is our stance: build tools that respect writers, stay honest about limits, and update when we learn something new. If you have ideas for what we should build next, the inbox is open.
